Day 26: Clear Lake to West Union

Bit of a nondescript day today.  Last full day in Iowa and the landscape was exactly the same as the past few days.  The weather was overcast in the morning but cleared around 11 and temperatures rose to mid to high twenties, the winds were cross to head again but stronger and more easterly than yesterday so that slowed us a bit.  I am aware that a significant portion of these posts consists of weather and terrain reports but cycling for the majority of the day, these are the things that are most important to how the day goes. There were detours at the start and end of the ride so that took our mileage up from the planned 92 to 98 so a few laps round the motel car park would have seen another century but next week I think we have 8 in 9 days so wasn't bothered about that.  Pleased to report an accident free day today and the lunch spot was very nice next to Lake Cedar.  Other than that not a lot to say, 98 miles closer to the Atlantic, last night we had to choose what we wanted to eat at the final dinner so we have evidence the end is within sight.
